Just as the iX2 is an electric version of the X2 and the i7 is actually a 7 Series with an electric powertrain, so the i5 will be an electric version of the 5 Series. In addition, with the EQE, Mercedes-Benz offers a fully electric model that operates in the same class, but that does not share a single nut or screw with the E-class.
